I don’t understand…

Can I please point out how confusing it is when guys make it a point to pat themselves on the back (and say how “unexpected” it is) when they do something like tell a girl they’re dating to stop if they get too physical or when they prefer their dates to take charge? (things that are often classified as things women do)

Like, what do you want me to say? “Oh, how amazing you are! Way to go for breaking out of the stereotype!”

You did something that you wanted/felt was necessary to be comfortable. Who cares if it’s “feminine” or not?

You know how it is, right, ladies? You know a guy for a while. You hang out with him. You do fun things with him—play video games, watch movies, go hiking, go to concerts. You invite him to your parties. You listen to his problems. You do all this because you think he…

SIFF

TONIGHT IS THE NIGHT!! I’m very excited to be going to the SIFF Opening Night Gala featuring Joss Whedon’s Much Ado about Nothing. Not only that, but Joss, Nathan Fillion, and Clark Gregg will be in attendence!! CLARRK. GREGG. I honestly loved him in “The New Adventures of Old Chrstine” before I adored him as Agent Coulson. I know I won’t get the chance to meet any of them, but just being in the same room is exciting. Ah, the life of a nerd!

The rest of the movies I’d really like to see at SIFF are…

  • 100 Bloody Acres
  • Byzantium
  • The Last Ocean
  • Cheap Thrills
  • Wolf Children
  • Ain’t Them Bodies Saints

I REALLY would like to see Ain’t Them Bodies Saints (starring Casey Afleck - I really liked him in The Killer Inside Me). The only one I know I’ll be seeing for sure is Byzantium because a friend said he’d go with me and now I’m accountable. I only got to one SIFF movie last year (V/H/S) so I’m hoping for a little more this year! I should be watching my budget more carefully, but oh well.

imcheeto asked: thank you for letting me know! was there a certain point where you noticed a noticeable change? day 29? that's totally awesome! that's totally exciting to hear that you can do pretty much everything not modified! what a warrior.

It probably wasn’t until Day 26 when I attempted to do things unmodified (specifically the ab hold into plank, mountain climbers, and the plank with the dumbell row and leg lift) that I realized I COULD do them. I had tried previous days, but could never get through more than a few reps. It wasn’t until yesterday (day 28) that I could actually do the jump lunges (much slower than they do - but hey, still good, right?). It does come and go depending on how I’m feeling that day. Like days 26 and 28 were great, but 27 wasn’t. I know tonight’s will be rough because I did a heavy lifting routine at the gym during my lunch hour.

You’ll definitely get better at level 3! The first day is always the hardest. Even if you don’t get all the way to doing everything not modified, you’ll still see a big improvement!!

Vulture tells Mark Ruffalo about Science Bros.  Mark loves it, plans to call RDJ about it.

From Vulture:

Does that mean he’s never heard of “Science Bros,” an Internet subculture celebrating the friendship of Bruce Banner and Tony Stark, the characters Ruffalo and Robert Downey Jr. played in The Avengers?

“No, what is that?” he asked.

And then the giggles began.

  • “Yes! It’s me and Robert! Look at this! There’s thousands of them!” Ruffalo tried to contain himself. “It’s called the Science Bros. This is awesome. I’ve never heard of it. Why hasn’t anyone told me about that?”
  • “So, are they all quasi-homoerotic?” he asked. “Like tinged with … ” Yup. “That’s cute!”
  • Is he now a Science Bros shipper, then? “Yeah! I love it; it’s awesome,” Ruffalo enthused. “I endorse it 100 percent. You know what it is? It’s open-source creativity.”
  • Ruffalo couldn’t wait to drop his newfound knowledge bomb on Downey Jr. “I’m going to call him and tell him, and he’s going to laugh his ass off,” Ruffalo said. “He’ll love that.”

What is a BMR?
Your BMR or Basal Metabolic Rate is the number of calories your body burns while at rest. This doesn’t mean the calories you burn on a rest day lightly doing yoga or chores around the house. This means the number of calories your body would burn if you were laying in bed all day or if you were in a coma.
Why can’t I cut calories from my BMR?
Cutting calories from your BMR deprives your body of essential nutrients it needs to perform everyday functions. You will not be able to perform on a level you want to and your body will suffer from this in the long run.
How can I find my BMR?
You can find your BMR by using this formula based on height, weight, and age:
In pounds/inches
Women: BMR = 655 + ( 4.35 x weight in pounds ) + ( 4.7 x height in inches ) - ( 4.7 x age in years )Men: BMR = 66 + ( 6.23 x weight in pounds ) + ( 12.7 x height in inches ) - ( 6.8 x age in year )
In kilos/centimeters
Women: BMR = 655 + ( 9.6 x weight in kilos ) + ( 1.8 x height in cm ) - ( 4.7 x age in years )Men: BMR = 66 + ( 13.7 x weight in kilos ) + ( 5 x height in cm ) - ( 6.8 x age in years )
How do I find my Daily Calorie Needs from my BMR?
There are different methods of finding your Daily Calorie Needs but a very simple and useful one is the Harris Benedict Equation:
If you are sedentary (little or no exercise)
BMR x 1.2
If you are lightly active (light exercise/sports 1-3 days/week)
BMR x 1.375
If you are moderatetely active (moderate exercise/sports 3-5 days/week)
BMR x 1.55
If you are very active (hard exercise/sports 6-7 days a week)
BMR x 1.725
If you are extra active (very hard exercise/sports & physical job or 2x training)
BMR x 1.9
How many calories do I need to lose/maintain/gain weight?
To maintain you need to consume your Daily Calorie Needs but going slightly over or slightly under some days won’t affect you much. In order to lose weight, the generally accepted number to subtract from your Daily Calorie Needs is 500 or 250 for a 1lb or 1/2lb weight loss per week. Your body doesn’t need you to cut calories to be healthy and get to the right weight/place it needs to be. Being healthy is your ultimate goal so never cut too much because this is your body’s essential needs and energy you are taking away from. To gain weight you can do the opposite of losing and add 500 or 250 to you Daily Calorie Needs.
My absolute worst pet peeve is when fitblrs and posts tell people to cut calories from their BMR to lose weight. You should never cut calories from your BMR. Ever.
